HAMI, Vojtech: Slovak National Uprising as a Symbol of Communist Propaganda (Banknotes, Coins and State or Party Decorations)
This paper aims to provide insight into the issues surrounding the official interpretation of the Slovak National Uprising (SNP) history through the lens of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia and its subsequent transformation into a historical symbol of state propaganda. Based on scholarly literature, the author interprets the official narrative of the SNP's history and its transformation from 1945 to 1989. The expressed theses are argumentatively supported by material research of banknotes, coins and state or party decorations issued within the given time range, with a critical evaluation of their iconography. The paper's contribution lies in the interpretation of the official view of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia on the history of the SNP and in the interpretation of the propagandistic use of this historical symbol in the form of state decorations and currency iconography.
