GERBOCOVÁ, Tajana: Student Movement in Colleges and Universities in Bratislava
The student movement, in collaboration with Public Against Violence, played a crucial role in the political transformation of Czechoslovakia. During November and December 1989, the movement rapidly spread across universities and faculties in Bratislava, with students actively engaging in the democratic transition. Among the earliest to commemorate the events of November 17, 1939, were students from the Faculty of Arts at Comenius University (FiF UK) and the Academy of Performing Arts (VŠMU). FiF UK students marked the anniversary with a city march, while VŠMU students planned a procession for freshmen, which was ultimately restricted to university grounds. Over time, additional faculties and universities across Bratislava joined the movement. This study is based on archival research conducted at various universities and faculties.
